Cameras & Equipment:-
There is a breed of photographer who honestly believe that having the best ie most expensive camera available makes them the best photographer!
It's nonsense ofcourse but it keeps lively debate within Camera Clubs & photo magazines.
Whilst it is obviously true you need a camera "fit for Purpose" the brand or it's cost is not in itself going to make better pictures just because it's more expensive.
The digital work you see of mine mainly on this website have been shot either with Nikon or Canon SLR cameras - I doubt unless your told you would know which were which.
As someone in the camera selling game for years I can tell you modern digital is good from all the leading brands and any purchase decision should be based on what you want from the camera.
Earlier film cameras were "more different" with some great and some very average performers.
When looking at a system SLR for example - consider the whole system - is it offering what you need at the right budget? Sony for example offered great SLR's when I started with digital - but the flash shoe is not standard - and using studio flash that was not good as the remote flash sender would not fit. Why buy an adapter when Canon had the right shoe built in?
This year after a neck injury continued to be painful I went for a lighter weight camera - as the heavy bodies I was using did not advance my work one jot but the pain of holding them could effect my judgement. If however I was suddenly working in lets say press & sports - back would come the need for a heavy body with all the extra protection and solid body construction needed for such work, quite apart from "read speed" and all those extra features packed in useful in that work.
In this section I will look back to cameras of the past, and look forward to those now and in the future. Not all will be expensive pro models - photography is for everyone.
