I want to model p2

I was 14 when I started modeling. At the end of that first  day my mum said, If you want to do this, you're on your own because I'm not  traipsing around London ever again like that. It's a nightmare.

I really want to model!!!   Page 2.

ok - so page two and I have not put you off the idea yet.

As this is a general introduction piece I am not going into great detail on all the pro's & con's here - but lets look at how most start.

I am going to presume here that no agent is involved and you have not been scouted by a LEGITIMATE agency.

Your on your own - you want to get out there and model!!

So now is the time to do some serious thinking - ask yourself

What do you want from this?

How serious are you to push to a career or is it a bit of fun with payment as a bonus?

If you simply want to enjoy it maybe money is not the key, although expenses are reasonable.

How will you build a portfolio or get the all important z card images?

How will you avoid being stung?

Ok well just being here should hopefully help you avoid some of the pitfalls - there are plenty.

Consider what "range" you would be happy shooting - but be realistic - if your female even shooting with the local camera club will probably mean topless or implied nude.

Males must be comfortable at a minimum with shirtless in the early stages.

Look at what others are doing - take a look at website like StarNow and Model Mayhem.

Be very careful claiming experience if you have none or listing range your not sure of.

If you do get bamboozled by it all ask questions - e.mail me by all means.

Be very careful who you work with, but at the sametime appreciate those willing to help in the early days.

I have set many up on the right path, but I have also seen many fall by the wayside - who made arrangements difficult or demanded pay to early, or were just not realistic to the industry they say they want to be in.

Gain the experience first.

As mentioned earlier most worhwhile photographers are tending not to offer T/F shoots - they still remember cost the photographer money even if the planned shoot does not go ahead but was booked, or if the newbie had no aplitude towards it. I actually was let down on the day by two models recently one of whom turned round and said no one would give him a chance anyways!!
