I really really want to model p3
Getting that first shoot is never easy. It is much easier for girls than boys, but be warned many photographers on the self promote sites see glamour as the shoot range and nudity is commonplace.
Boys will find it much more difficult to get a "non adult" serious first shoot to let them progress.
Many offers will revolve around the murky area of body paint and various levels of nudity.
I on occassion will shoot T/F if I can justify it. this means arrangements must be simple at a time of my choosing [I try to be reasonable]. These shoots are then used within my work or to try out ideas. I always give the option to exclude images where the model prefers from general viewing because I often deal with confidence issues and show both what works and what does not or need improving upon. I build up trust and never abuse it.
Many I have worked with - I work with again and again!
The shoots I offer are different because they deal with technique, confidence and all the things you really need to know, and to discover yourself.
This is based on my experience working with actors and perfomers.
The key rules to a t/F shoot application is to remember my time is valuable too!
Many forget this and it upsets so many photographers - one said to me last year how he was ending T/f after a girl did not only turn up on the day booked in the studio - but saw no reason why it was a problem - as "she was working for free"!! Ok at £35.00 an hour his studio was booked she did not turn up and it cost him £140 just for the studio booking.
Remember a T/F shoot is not free it is where time is equal yours and the photographers - although in truth the photographer is the better value - think about it!
Let's end by a quick mention of "formula shoots". These shoots are often advertised as "want to be a model" and they sound fantastic and until recently many belived they were agencies - where as they are photo studios under a guise. The law has been recently changed to insist this is now made clear on adverts or representations [eg in the street selling] . It is not the photoshoot which is the problem but the cost often multi hundreds or even into the thousand pounds plus for a few "like everyone elses" images. Be warned these images do not impress agents or other clients.
They know, as I often find that those having been on those shoots still have no idea how to advance or model. Expression & posture, context and range are still a mystery to them.
I suggest what you need in the early stages is the groundwork towards your aims - this is what I offer on first shoots and the price often starts less than £200 for a whole day - with backup when you need it, and constructive feedback.
